IT support for small businesses around Gray
Email, files, backups, computers and cloud hosting — for shops and offices too small for an IT department.
The size of business this fits
Two to twenty five people. A dentist, a contractor, an insurance office, a barn with an office in it, a shop with a register and three computers in the back. Big enough that email and files matter, small enough that nobody is paid to watch them.
What we take care of
- Email that works. Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace set up properly — your own domain, not a shared Gmail — with spam filtering that does not eat invoices, and a plan for what happens when someone leaves.
- Files everyone can reach. Shared drives, a small NAS, or cloud storage chosen for how the work actually moves. Including the boring part: permissions that make sense and a way to find the file again.
- Backups that have been tested. A backup nobody has restored is a rumour. We set them up and then prove a restore works, because the day it matters is not the day to find out.
- The computers themselves. On-premises desktops and laptops kept updated and patched, replaced before they fail, and joined to the same accounts as everything else.
- Cloud hosting options, honestly weighed. Sometimes the answer is a hosted server; often it is two SaaS products and a folder. We will tell you which, and what each costs per month before you commit.
- Cameras, network and wiring. Covered on the networks and cameras page.
How the money works
Two ways, and no surprises in either:
- Hourly — $95 the first hour on site, $65 each hour after, $45 remote. Invoiced same day, net 15.
- Retainer — $300/month for four remote hours, a monthly check of backups and updates, and a response within four business hours. $750/month for eight hours, a response within two business hours, camera and NAS monitoring, and a quarterly review.
- Projects — a written fixed price with the scope, the explicit not-included list, the timeline and the one risk that could change it. 50% deposit on projects over $1,000.
Retainers are prepaid monthly, unused hours roll over one month, and overage is $85 an hour — all three stated at signing rather than discovered later.
What you get that a big provider will not
One person who knows your building, answers the phone, and does not open a ticket for a password reset. No offshore script, no upsell to a plan you did not ask for, no annual contract you cannot leave. If something is outside what we do, we name someone local who does it.
